GST for freelancers
Freelancers providing services must register for GST once turnover crosses the applicable threshold (commonly ₹20 lakh, or ₹10 lakh in some special-category states). Below that, you can issue a plain service invoice without GST. Registered freelancers charge 18% on most professional and IT services and quote a SAC code. This tool supports both — toggle GST on or off as needed and confirm your position with a tax professional.
